The Enneagram Subtypes

Join Elaine and Noah for this intimate two-day workshop on Saturday and Sunday, October 21st & 22nd from 9:ooam-12:00pm Pacific Time. The subtypes are body-based instinctual drives that we unconsciously rely on for survival—and it’s possible to over-invest our energy in any given one of them. In this workshop, we’ll discuss the essentials of all 3 subtypes (listed below):

  • Longing for intimacy (one-to-one)

  • Seeking community and social interaction (social)

  • Wanting basic survival needs met (self-preservation)

The differences among these three subtypes will become clearer as we listen to one another discuss subtype experiences and how each of these survival instincts has impacted and played out in our lives. In addition, we’ll learn how to improve relationships by bridging these subtype differences with understanding and compassion.

Depending on the interests of the group, we may explore:

  • Discuss the basics of all three instinctual subtypes (characteristics, strengths, struggles, concerns, etc.)

  • Help you find your dominant subtype

  • Hold a subtype panel for you to watch people talking about being each of their real life experiences of the 3 subtypes

  • Break out into same-subtype groups to share experiences around how your subtype is affecting your relationships

  • Talk about what “subtype stacking” means

  • Explore how instinctual subtypes show up in daily life as well as how certain places, situations, and eras of life can elicit specific subtype activity

  • Consider subtype dynamics in relationships (work, family, romance, friendships, etc.)
